IPL (IPL) Intense Pulsed Light Treatment: Lesions and Photo Rejuvenation
Whether they’re freckles or spots that have appeared over time due to age or sun exposure, these skin imperfections can be treated with IPL therapy. Light from a special headpiece is absorbed by the pigment in the lesions, causing them to darken and slough off.
There’s no reason to be embarrassed by unsightly veins or broken capillaries that can mar appearances, such as the facial inflammation of rosacea or unsightly spider veins. IPL therapy can reduce their appearance easily and effectively through a series of treatments.
And for those looking to improve the overall texture and appearance of the skin, IPL has exceptional results for photo rejuvenation. Benefits include reduced pore size, reduced wrinkle size, and a more even skin tone. Best of all, there’s minimal discomfort and virtually no downtime.
IPL Treatments: Hair Removal and Acne
Unwanted facial and body hair can be permanently reduced using IPL therapy. There’s no reason to shave, wax or use messy hair removal creams when there’s IPL available. The IPL hair removal process can help men and women alike.
IPL treatments can rapidly dry up acne by killing the bacteria deep in the skin and treating the inflammation. It has the added benefit of reducing redness and unwanted pigmentation around active acne, as well as acne scars. Dr. Bunin can recommend a medical skin regiment to help control future breakouts.
How is (IPL) Intense Pulsed Light Treatment Performed?
IPL therapy is done right in the office. A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated, and the hand piece is gently touched to your skin as the pulse of light is applied. You may feel a slight warmth or a mild stinging like the snapping of a rubber band, or nothing at all, depending on the intensity of the treatment given. Afterward, the gel is removed, and you can immediately reapply cosmetics and resume normal activities.
IPL can be used to treat any area of the body. The most common areas for treatment are the face, neck, chest, and hands. Hair removal also works on dark hairs anywhere on the body.
Depending on the severity of the condition, a series of three to six treatments may be recommended. By dividing the full program into several treatments, (IPL) Intense Pulsed Light Treatment can provide gradual improvement with very low risk, no downtime, and immediate resumption of normal activities.
In the case of IPL hair removal, only hairs in the active growth phase will be killed by the IPL treatment. Thus, multiple sessions are needed to treat hairs in different growth cycles.
Older technologies weren’t precise in the release of each light pulse, and the light source would weaken over time, causing uneven treatments and results. With the Naturlase IPL each pulse is calibrated and gated, so the skin gets the exact energy needed every time. Optimized power, pulsing, and light delivery allow maximum results with fewer treatments than with other IPL systems, while maximizing results, comfort, and safety.
